Frequently asked questions
If you can't find the answer to your question, email us at info@pfmagnan.com.
What should I look at before replacing my doors and windows?
Original doors and windows usually last about 25 years. Over time, the hardware, caulking, insulation, frames and sashes wear out, making a full replacement necessary for both looks and function.
How much does a replacement cost, roughly?
An average of $1,500 per opening, including products and turnkey installation, is a good starting point for your budget.
How do I get a quote?
You can email us your measurements, book a home visit with a sales advisor, or visit our showroom in Blainville. For larger projects, we strongly recommend booking a visit.
What government programs are available?
Quebec's Rénoclimat program offers financial assistance of $150 per opening.
What does the installation service include?
A turnkey installation service: removal of the old windows, installation of the new products, insulation around the frames, caulking, installation of the interior trim, and disposal of debris.
What are the benefits of an installation without subcontractors?
Our installers are professionals paid by the hour, which encourages quality work. The company takes full responsibility for the installation and after-sales service.
What warranties do you offer?
Products generally come with a limited lifetime warranty on the main components. Portes et Fenêtres Magnan adds a full 10-year warranty covering installation and labour.
Is debris cleanup included?
Absolutely. Our team removes all construction debris as well as the old doors and windows.
What is the lead time for installation?
Installation takes place about 2 weeks after the products are delivered. Our teams install 8 to 12 items per day on average.
How long does a door and window replacement take?
It depends on the size of your project. Each of our installation teams installs 8 to 12 items a day on average. Some technical factors can add time, however: non-standard sizes, custom finishes or installations that require working at heights.
Are all products ENERGY STAR® certified?
ENERGY STAR® certification is the standard with our suppliers, although some design choices can slightly lower the energy efficiency rating.
Do you install in winter?
Yes, for individual doors. For larger projects it's often better to wait until spring, but cold-weather work is still possible with some precautions.
How long do the products last?
A replacement window lasts 30 to 40 years, depending on weather exposure and maintenance.
Do you protect floors and furniture?
We always protect your floors with mats, cardboard or blankets, and we cover your furniture with polyethylene sheeting.
How should I prepare my home?
Take down window coverings, move any furniture blocking access to the openings, and leave a parking space free for our trucks.
